Thousand Oaks is the second-largest city in Ventura County.  The name of the city was created by a 14 year old boy in the 1920's after winning a contest held by the city to rename it. The area was and still is characterized by ten of thousands of oak trees growing throughout the rolling green hills within the valley.  We looked and could not find any chandelier hanging from any of them. However, in modern times, there is much more to be found in this valley than trees. With a quick drive downtown through Thousand Oaks Boulevard you'll find many shops, restaurants and beautiful houses. And, alas!, there are chandeliers to be found in many of them!
